Luhrs Center Dedication Celebration Planned for December 1, 2005

Shippensburg University and area communities to dedicate
the new H. Ric Luhrs Performing Arts Center facility

SHIPPENSBURG, PA (November 29, 2005) – Shippensburg University will hold a dedication celebration for the new H. Ric Luhrs Performing Arts Center this Thursday, December 1st at 2 PM. The celebration will begin with a ribbon cutting ceremony with remarks from University and Pennsylvania state officials and the facility’s designers and contractors. In addition, remarks will be made by Grace B. Luhrs, widow of H. Ric Luhrs (for whom the building is named), and Helene Luhrs, sister of H. Ric Luhrs. Public is welcome to attend the celebration.

Also participating in the celebration will be the Shippensburg University music and theatre department faculty and SU musical groups including the Brass Ensemble, Dr. Jon Robert Cart, soloist (Music and Theatre Department Chairman), and the Madrigal Singers.

Following the ceremony, the Luhrs Center will be open from 3 – 5 PM for public tours. The tours will include Grove Theatre, back stage areas and the academic wing. During the tours, the crowd will be entertained by the SU Flute Ensemble, SU Clarinet & Saxophone Ensemble, the SU Cumbelaires, and the SU Brass Ensemble.
